The purpose of the PTO is to foster excellence in education at Mark Twain by sponsoring programs for the students, family and community, promoting cooperation and understanding among parents, faculty, students and the school administration and raising funds to achieve these objectives.

Mark Twain Elementary School opened its doors on September 11,1950. It was named for one of America's most beloved writers and humorists, Mark Twain, whose real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens.
